Llanbrynean Farm, Brecon

Brecon Beacons National Park
Hall School, Wimbledon

Outdoor Education Facility. GJP secured planning permission and listed building consent to change the use of and fully renovate Llanbrynean Farm house and barn complex to a residential education facility in the Brecon Beacons National Park.  The case constructed by GJP focussed on the benefit of renovating and re-using a fine traditional model farm, which was the former Victorian home of David Morgan. The Hall School, Wimbledon sought to ‘list’ the farmhouse and barns, and were successfully Grade II listed by CADW due to the buildings being a good example of a rare survival of a model farm with significant historic character. In terms of the detail proposed, the farmhouse, barns and outbuildings are to be repaired, refurbished with minor alterations to provide suitable accommodation, activity areas and equipment storage for the proposed use. The proposed conversion is sympathetic to the historic character of the site, retaining the existing character and appearance of the farmhouse and barn complex and using materials which are complementary and considerate with the existing structures.Accordingly, the planning & listed building application was granted a unanimous approval at Planning Committee in August 2016.
