GJP have recently secured committee approval for two schemes in Bridgend, South Wales. These include the resolution to grant planning permission for the re-development of a vacant and derelict site to provide a mixed-use development, which will provide 18, 100% affordable housing units and 2 retail units.
The proposal was supported by Policy within the LDP being for the redevelopment of a vacant and derelict site in a sustainable location – both in terms of access to public transport, and pedestrian footpaths and cycle routes.
In addition, Committee members resolved to approve an outline application submitted on behalf of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water which sought outline permission for 14 units on a covered reservoir in Cefn Cribwr. It was considered that the proposals complied with both national and local policies through the re-use of vacant and underutilised land within settlement boundaries.
These successful outcomes, on two diverse projects, are the culmination of considerable work by the practice to firstly negotiate Officer recommendation for approval on each, and subsequent committee approval.
